Simon has been a member of Lions Clubs International, in Marston Green & District Lions Club, since 1992 and is currently Club President and District Communications Chairman. He was elected in March 2011 to be 2nd Vice District Governor for 2011-12, in March 2012 to be 1st Vice District Governor for 2012-13 and in March 2013 to District Governor in 2013-14. In January 2015 he was elected to be the National Chairman (Chairman of Council) for the British Isles and Ireland for the Lions year 2015-2016 (July-June)
Simon’s theme for his year as District Governor was “Making our mark through service” and Simon has continued this them into his year as Council Chairman. Simon wants Lions to make their mark:
- On their community through the creation of permanent reminders of the work of Lions Clubs
- On the wider community through help other clubs from next door neighbours to clubs on the other side of the world
- On those in need through the service that they give
- On the general public by using PR tools to publicise the work of Lions
- On each other through the fun and fellowship that comes from being a Lion
- On themselves through the satisfaction that comes from providing good service
Simon decided to document his experiences as a Lion on the road to being District Governor in 2013-14, and beyond, through this blog. Further information about Simon, his club, District 105M and Lions Clubs International can be found at

Hi Simon, You are a natural for DG 2013 – 14
Lions will increasingly depend on communication and information, and you are a master in this field.
So, good luck to you and your family. One way or another I’m sure they will all become involved!

Gee, I thought we did multi-tasking in MD19G (British Columbia, Washington State. and the northern half of Idaho State)! Our IT chair is also the Webmaster (not me, this is my first day ever on a blog) and the District Cabinet Secretary. I am looking forward to Busan and meeting DGs from all over the world. Greetings from Kathmandu, Nepal, Good luck to you for the upcoming days to serve as VDG and next year DG.
