… but I’ve been away on holiday and had little or no internet access.
Now that I’m back from leave, “My Life as a Lion” is back on with a vengeance.
While I was away, next year’s 1st Vice District Governors had their second training session. They collectively decided that some of the topics covered would have been useful for their first training session last year, the outcome of which is that the training for me and my fellow 2nd VDGs has been moved from July to September and extended to 2 days.
On Monday, next year’s DG Team, Neil, Paul and I, met for a meal with our wives at Neil’s house. We had an excellent meal (thank you Beryl) during which the conversation focussed on Neil’s and Paul’s experiences so far, Neil’s impending trip to Seattle to attend International Convention and a look forward to the coming year. Following this Neil, Paul and I had a slightly more formal discussion about some of the immediate tasks that need to be undertaken. One thing that was certainly clear was that we are like-minded on most topics and are good at bouncing ideas off each other. It should be an interesting and productive year.
Tomorrow, Thursday, I will be working with my deputy webmaster, Joy, to carry out end of year maintenance on the district mailing list and to discuss the coming year as far as the District’s web presence is concerned. One thing I will be doing is extending the use of the District Twitter account to all district officers.
Friday 1st July is the start of the Lions’ year and, although our changeover dinner is not until 24th, the start of my term as 2nd Vice District Governor. Scary!
Talking of changeover, my club’s changeover barbecue is on Sunday but more of that in my next post.
