Over the next few days I will update this post with details of Marston Green Lions Christmas activities so come back often to see how we’re doing.
It all started on Saturday when I travelled down to Gaydon to collect the Land Rover generously loaned to us by Jaguar Land Rover. Having got it back the first thig I noticed was that this year we had no roof rack to mount our speakers on. After consulting with our handyman, David, we decieded to mount the speakers on the sleigh which I did on Sunday morning
After grabbing a quick sandwich on Saturday I headed for Marston Green and spent an hour delivering cards and envelopes to the houses on Coleshill Road. Then it was off to our garage to attach the sleigh to the Land Rover and meet up with Santa for our visit to Marston Green Cricket Club. We arrived with lights and music and were welecomed by a gaggle of children on the Cricket Club balcony. Santa was installed in the excellent grotto that the club had built and handed out presents to children for the next two hours. It was a very good event and the cricket club very generously donated the procedds to the Lions Club.
Sunday morning saw me back in Marston Green to fix the speakers to the sleigh before meeting up with Mick to deliver cards and envelopes to Station Road and Bickenhill Road and all roads off them. Christine was supposed to be there but I left her in bed and Mick had to leave half way through the first half due to being mauled by an animal through a letter box and bleeding all over the cards. I finished off the rest myself and then went to B&Q on the way home to pick up some plastic ties for our collection buckets.
Tonight (Monday 12th) we are out for our first collection in Chelmsley Wood visiting Witney Drive, Charlbury Avenue, Banbury Croft, Lambourne Grove, Hillys Croft, Wavers Marston, Clarksland Grove, Elford Grove and Dawley Crescent. I’ll let you know how we do tomorrow.
