Or if you are a Lion happy second half of the Lions’ year. If you are not a Lion why not make helping your local Lions Club help your community one of your resolutions. This could range from supporting events run by your local Lions to becoming a member but Lions Clubs can only serve with your support. To find your nearest club go to the LCI website.
After my club’s sterling efforts in the run up to Christmas we all had some well deserved R & R both privately and together at New Year’s Eve and our dry duck race on January 2nd. We used to hold a duck race in the local river on New Year’s Day but our increasing age and a series of wet Christmases have led us to change to a race using dice and a printed “river”. This year’s winner was vice president Pauline and she gets the trophy, a musical goose, to keep for the next year.
So what is on the agenda this year? At a club level we have a trip to the panto on Sunday 8th January and a weekend away in the forest of Dean at the end of the month. At a district level my priority is to visit 15 club meetings and I will be focussing on those clubs without web sites in an attempt to hit 100% of clubs having a site by the end of the Lions’ year in June.
Meanwhile in January I will be meeting up with my fellow second Vice District Governors for a night out in Warwick. In March at our district convention in Corby I will be standing as candidate for 1st Vice District Governor for next year. Talking of conventions, the Multiple District convention is in May with the host night celebrations being organised by a committee which I chair.
Other than that I will continue to chair the Long Range Planning committee and have already updated the Five Year Plan. I will also continue chairing the communication committee and, as webmaster, finish handing over the district web site to next year’s officer, Joy.
I will keep you up to date with all of this and more through this blog so please keep on reading and tell your friends about it.
