140426 - Charter - Kingswinford and Sourbridge - 004 - Simon140510 - IMG_2274In an effort to bring this blog right up to date I’m going to cover April and May’s activities in one post.

Things have slowed down somewhat since District Convention in March due mainly to the planning of club visits to occur before then. Nevertheless April saw a number of charter anniversary dinners and my participation in the Shakespeare half-marathon and May contained Multiple District Convention in Manchester, the final Council of Governors and district cabinet meetings, two more runs and the first meetings of the MD Convention 2015 host committee of which I am chairman.

This is the third and final part of my catch up and covers the end of March including District Convention in Solihull.

140322 - 018 - DSC08109The District Convention should be one of the highlights of a District Governor’s year and Convention at Solihull certainly tops my list. I must thank everybody involved in making it happen and everyonewho turned up and took part. (more…)

It has been such a long time since my last post that I am having to split this catch up into three parts. Part one will cover February’s activities, Part two the beginning of March including UN Day at the Houses of Parliament and Part three the end of March including District Convention.

So let’s start with February, a month of club visits, charter anniversaries and my third cabinet meeting.

Once again some time has passed since my last post but this time it’s more because the end of December and the beginning of January were fairly quiet.

New Year with my Club

New Year with my Club

As far as Lions activities are concerned the only one in December was New Year’s Eve when a group from my club went to the Marston Farm Hotel for a night of eating, drinking and dancing. At the beginning of January there were two club activities, an indoor duck race and a visit to the Panto, before Christine and I took a well deserved break in Lanzarote with a couple of friends.

adventOh dear  where has the time gone. I promised you a post in October about Autumn Forum and suddenly it’s almost Christmas Day and apart from a plug for the district advent calendar I’ve not managed to post anything.

So much has happened since the last post that the best thing to do to catch up is to read my newsletters for November and December. In the meantime here are the highlights.

It has been too long since my last post since when I have carried out six more club visits to Sandwell, Castle Bromwich, Wellingborough, Stour Valley, Birmingham Moseley & Kings Heath and Shakespeare Lions Clubs. I have completed a 5K run attended three more Charter Anniversary Dinners at Bilston & Willenhall, Northampton 80 and my own club Marston Green. I’ve been to an Antiques quiz run by Alcester Lions and another quiz run by Birmingham Chinatown Lions. I’ve also started planning convention with my District Secretary Pauline. Yesterday was our district Autumn Forum and I’ll give a full report on that in my next blog.

130811 - Cabinet - 1st - 011 - IMG_0349130811 - Cabinet - 1st - 018 - IMG_0356Once again I have been struggling to keep this blog up to date although August has been very much a family month for me with a family reunion weekend, my nephew’s wedding and a trip to Scotland to visit relatives. Lions is never far away, however, and August has seen my first cabinet meeting as DG as well as the first batch of club visits.

This is very much a catch up post to bring you up to date with my activities since returning from Hamburg. Once I was back it was straight into action with my Club’s business meeting on the night I returned. A good first meeting for new president Geoff.

2013-07-13 10.30.56After two days back at work, the weekend brought more lions activities with my club’s attendance at Shirley Carnival on the Saturday. Last year the event got rained off and had to be restaged in September. This year it was fine and very hot which kept people away and reduced our takings. It was nevertheless a fun day and was good to see so many lions clubs represented there.
