Once again I find a month has passed since my last blog although this time the month did include two weeks holiday. Not that I could totally escape Lions on holiday although I suppose I could have not found local wi-fi to check my mail. Just before going on holiday I visited Birmingham Exhibition Lions Club who had a lively meeting with some good ideas for promotion of Lions.
Since returning from holiday it has been virtually non-stop Lions (so much so that five days have gone past between starting to write this post and finishing it).
The weeks immediately after my return from holiday went something like this:
- Monday – catch up with emails
- Tuesday – Long Range Planning meeting
- Wednesday – Club visit to Coventry Phoenix Lions Club
- Thursday – Club visit to Wolverhampton Lions Club
- Saturday – All day meeting of the Lions Lifeskills Limited non executive working group followed by Shakespeare Lions Charter Anniversary Dinner
- Sunday – Autumn Forum where I was running two 45 minute workshops
- Tuesday – Finance and Admin committee meeting as chair
- Wednesday – Teleconference with most of the VDGs in the Multiple District
- Thursday – Zone skittles competition – won by my club
- Saturday – Litter pick with my club in the morning followed by a ferret racing night with Castle Bromwich Lions
- Wednesday – Club social meeting with presentations from last year’s Young Ambassador, Liam, and our candidate for this year, Ashleigh.
This brings us up to date although all of this has had to be fitted round my day job which is itself ramping up due to a new technology refresh project.
Coming up for the rest of the month I will be manning a membership stand at Sandwell Lions’ Spooky Sponsored Walk on Saturday and have a DG Team meeting on Tuesday with all the district committee chairs and a membership team meeting on Wednesday. November is looking just as busy but…
…I am not complaining. Indeed I am really enjoying it and have discovered inner passions for things Lions that I didn’t know I had.
