Or more accurately sprints on. November has been another busy month as far as Lions is concerned. On top of that the month started with the birth of my second grandson, Joshua. Later in the month one of my brothers was diagnosed with and operated on, successfully, for a brain tumour. All is hopefully now well but time will tell.
On the Lions front since I last posted I have
- Helped out Sandwell Lions with their excellent Spooky Sponsored Walk
- Visited Southam and District, Kettering and District and Barwell and Earl Shilton Lions Clubs
- Attended the excellent Meera show hosted by Birmingham Handsworth Lions Club
- Manned an information stand at Asda for my club in conjunction with world sight day and world diabetes day
- Attended remembrance day wreath layings in Chelmsley Wood and Marston Green (helping to man the barriers at the latter)
- Attended my own club’s business meeting and our 35th Charter Anniversary Dinner (as MC)
- Attended the district cabinet meeting
- Met with some locals who would like Marston Green Lions to organise a fund raising race night for them
- Attended Zone D’s zone meeting
- Represented Lions Clubs International at Worcester Lions Club’s 43rd Charter Anniversary (also managed to appear at the charter celebration of the new Harborough Twenty 12 Lions Club via a pre-recorded video link)
- Attended the district final of the Young Ambassador of the 21st Century competition where our candidate Ashleigh made it two in a row for Marston Green Lions
- Moved the club’s website to a new web location
- Finalised the planning for our Christmas Sleigh collection
- Completed the first two of my three DG training assignments
December is a relatively quiet month with just a club business meeting and eight nights out with Santa. Watch out for regular Santa updates on Twitter @MarstonGnLions and Facebook Marston Green Lions.
If I don’t manage to get another blog post in please let me wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
