Our Club Pin

My Club has been in existence since 1977 when it was formed in Marston Green Maternity Hospital. Only one of the original founders is still a member but the club is still going strong.

We currently have 18 members and carry out a wide range of service, fund raising and social activities. Over the next couple of weeks we will be doing a litter pick in Marston Green and joining together with four other clubs to run a fund raising concert in aid of the Birmingham Crisis Centre and Solihull Young Carers. At the end of the month some members are getting together for a Royal Wedding Party. (more…)

“Ordinary people doing amazing things”

The usual answer to the question starts with the organisation, Lions Clubs International, and works down but I think it’s better to start with the slogan above.

My experience of Lions is based on Clubs in the UK and here Lions is several groups of like minded people who want to put something back into the community where they live. Lions Clubs serve their town or village through a wide range of fund raising and service activities supporting the elderly, the young, the disadvantaged and the needy.

Throughout the UK and Ireland this is repeated in around 900 different towns and villages so you’re never far from a Lions Club. You can find a club near you at the UK & Ireland Lions website or by telephoning 0845 833 9502.

cv2Welcome to the first post in Lion Simon Moss’ Blog.

I am 52 years old, married with two grown up daughters, Sara and Jo, and one grandson, Lewis. I live near Birmingham, UK and work for The Insolvency Service as an IT Manager.

I joined Lions Clubs International in January 1992 and have been a member of Marston Green and District Lions Club ever since. I am currently secretary for my Club and Region Chairman for District 105M. In addition I am webmaster for both my Club’s and District’s web sites www.marstongreenlions.org.uk and www.lions105m.org.uk respectively.
