Local press article

Rather belatedly I feel I should mention that my eldest daughter, Sara, joined Lions in March. She is now a member of Blaby Lions Club near Leicester. Her induction was covered by the local press.

Sara has grown up with me and Christine being Lions and has often joined in with the various events at our Club so she will be able to hit the ground running in her new Club.

New Members

This is my first blog entry which covers my life as a Lion rather than background information.

On Monday night I attended a workshop for new members at our Multiple District Headquarters (MDHQ) in King’s Heath, Birmingham. The workshop was run by District Leadership Officer, Phil White, and attended by 13 newish members as well as a four experienced Lions.

The workshop covered the history of Lions Clubs International as well as the structure and administration of the organisation. It is just one of a number of training sessions available to Lions in the district. (more…)

Our Club Pin

My Club has been in existence since 1977 when it was formed in Marston Green Maternity Hospital. Only one of the original founders is still a member but the club is still going strong.

We currently have 18 members and carry out a wide range of service, fund raising and social activities. Over the next couple of weeks we will be doing a litter pick in Marston Green and joining together with four other clubs to run a fund raising concert in aid of the Birmingham Crisis Centre and Solihull Young Carers. At the end of the month some members are getting together for a Royal Wedding Party. (more…)
